This piece showcases exaggerated hearts of varying sizes scattered across Teddy’s body. The colors, signature to MUKA’s brand, are carefully chosen to evoke a sense of comfort and safety, encouraging viewers to confront an uncomfortable yet crucial topic—love versus infatuation, or even obsession. Often, we become overwhelmed by emotion, mistaking infatuation for love, whether it’s directed toward a person, a place, or an idea. If unchecked, this confusion can lead to a spiral of unhealthy, mixed emotions because none of it was rooted in reality. Real love is always around us, but it can be elusive and difficult to discern.
Teddy’s cute, oval eye marks a fresh approach in MUKA’s work, offering new dimensions of emotional expression. Yet the iconic “X” eye on the left remains a hallmark of her Teddy series, serving as a constant reminder that "not everything is as it seems"—a recurring theme in MUKA’s exploration of life’s deeper, often concealed struggles.
